The primary difference is build height. The Mega 8K V2 offers 400 mm of vertical Z travel compared to 300 mm on the Mega 8K S. Both share the same 15 inch 8K mono LCD, 330 x 185 mm XY footprint, and 43 micron XY resolution. The V2 also includes the Phrozen Pump and Fill resin management system and two USB air purifiers in the box, which are optional accessories on the Mega 8K S.
The Pump and Fill is Phrozen's automated resin dispensing system. It monitors the vat resin level during printing and refills automatically from the bottle when levels drop, preventing mid-job failures during long unattended production runs. Post-session, it retracts unused resin cleanly back into the bottle.
Yes. The machine is designed for continuous industrial production operation. The dual linear rail and ball screw Z-axis, ParaLED optical array, and included Pump and Fill system are all specified for high-cycle production environments. Regular maintenance schedules and vat film replacement intervals should be followed to maintain output quality.
You need wash and cure equipment sized for the V2 build plate. Standard compact units cannot accommodate prints at 330 x 185 mm scale. The Cure Mega Bundle includes the Phrozen Cure Mega station sized for the full build plate. The complete bundle adds a dedicated Mega Wash S wash station for higher volume workflows. 3D Cast stocks both configurations.
The Sonic Mega 8K V2 is compatible with Phrozen's full resin range and any third-party 405 nm photopolymer resin. 3D Cast stocks Phrozen, Monocure3D, and Resione resins, all available from Australian stock.
The Sonic Mega 8K V2 is a permanent installation printer. At 43 kg it is not practical to move regularly, so bench placement should be decided before delivery. Allow clearance above the machine for the build plate to raise to the full 400 mm travel height. A reinforced workbench rated for the weight is recommended.
