Frequently Asked Questions
The Phrozen Arco is an FDM 3D printer designed for producing strong functional plastic parts in large formats at high speed. Common applications include functional prototypes, jigs and fixtures, engineering brackets, enclosures, tooling aids, architectural models, and small batch component production.
The Arco supports PLA, Tough PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PC, and carbon-fibre and glass-fibre composite filaments. The all-metal hotend reaches 300 degrees Celsius and the heated PEI bed reaches 120 degrees Celsius, covering the full range of engineering-grade materials without requiring a hotend swap.
Klipper runs on a dedicated processor separate from the printer control board. It enables real-time input shaping, pressure advance tuning, and per-material speed profiles. This gives users direct control over print physics rather than relying on manufacturer presets, which is why production FDM users prefer it. The Arco ships with Klipper pre-installed.
The Chroma Kit is an optional multi-filament system that connects to the Arco and enables automated printing across 4 filament channels, expandable to 16. Each channel has a built-in drying chamber up to 70 degrees Celsius and its own jam and runout sensors. It can be purchased and added at any time after buying the Arco.
The PentaShield is an optional enclosure consisting of five removable tempered glass panels. It raises the internal chamber temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius, reduces operational noise by approximately 15 percent, and includes a carbon-filter fan that activates automatically at 35 degrees Celsius. It installs without modifying the printer and can be added at any time.
FDM printers like the Arco produce parts that are stronger, more durable, and better suited to functional and mechanical applications. The 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume is significantly larger than most resin printers. Resin printers produce finer surface detail and higher dimensional accuracy at small scales. Many users run both technologies for different applications.
Yes. 3D Cast stocks the Phrozen Arco in Australia and ships from our Bairnsdale, Victoria warehouse. Full Phrozen manufacturer warranty applies, with direct local support from our team across setup, Klipper configuration, and filament selection.
Recommended filaments
Filaments designed for the Arco
Phrozen stocks two FDM filaments specifically formulated for the Arco and stocked in Australia by 3D Cast. High Speed PLA is built for throughput at 600 mm/s. Tough PLA is built for functional parts that need to survive handling and load. Both are available in 8 colours at $35 AUD per 1 kg spool.
Phrozen High Speed PLA
Formulated for CoreXY printers at speeds up to 600 mm/s. Tensile strength 55 MPa, dimensional accuracy plus or minus 0.02 mm. Available in 8 colours with identical print settings across the range. Nozzle temperature 190 to 220 degrees C, PEI bed 45 to 60 degrees C.
View High Speed PLAPhrozen Tough PLA
Formulated for functional parts that need enhanced toughness and reduced breakage risk on fine features and load-bearing sections. Prints at up to 200 mm/s at nozzle temperature 200 to 230 degrees C. No enclosure required. Chroma Kit compatible. Available in 8 colours.
