Phrozen BJD 3D Printer Resin: Resin for Ball-Jointed Dolls and Articulated Figures
Phrozen BJD Resin is a specialist MSLA photopolymer, in Ivory, formulated for ball-jointed doll makers, articulated figure artists, and custom character model creators. Standard high resolution resins are optimised for rigid display pieces; BJD Resin is engineered around the different demands of articulated forms where joints must resist friction wear and surfaces must accept detailed decoration without cracking or peeling.
The defining property of BJD Resin is its wear resistance at articulated joint surfaces. In a ball-jointed doll, the socket cups and ball joints are in continuous contact during posing, and standard resins develop surface powder and micro-abrasion that degrades the joint over time. BJD Resin is specifically formulated to resist that powdering, maintaining joint integrity and surface quality through repeated posing cycles without requiring joint liners or surface treatment.
The surface finish is a refined soft matte, which achieves two practical outcomes. The matte quality eliminates the light scatter from glossy joint surfaces that makes photographing dolls difficult under studio lighting. The surface texture also provides mechanical adhesion for both water-based acrylic paints and nitrate-based paints, allowing for clean face-up detail work, eyebrow definition, and blush application without the adhesion failures that a sealed or semi-gloss surface introduces.
BJD Resin maintains the fine detail reproduction required for facial geometry, finger articulation, and thin limb sections. The resin is compatible with all MSLA and DLP resin printers, and produces its best results on high resolution machines such as the Phrozen Sonic Mini 8KS or Sonic Mighty 12K, where facial features and joint geometry are reproduced at the 22 to 43 micron layer range.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's a specialist resin formulated specifically for ball-jointed doll makers and articulated figure artists, engineered around the different demands of articulated forms rather than adapted from a general purpose resin.
Phrozen has not published a lab-tested technical data sheet with tensile strength or hardness figures for this resin, so we can't give exact mechanical numbers. We've listed the manufacturer's stated properties above, and a safety data sheet is available to download.
In a ball-jointed doll, the socket cups and ball joints are in continuous contact during posing. Standard resins develop surface powder and micro-abrasion over time, which this resin is specifically formulated to resist.
Both water-based acrylic paints and nitrate-based paints, without the adhesion failures a sealed or semi-gloss surface can introduce.
It's compatible with all MSLA and DLP resin printers. Best results come from high resolution machines like the Sonic Mini 8KS or Sonic Mighty 12K, at 22 to 43 micron layer heights.
Keep it sealed at room temperature in a dark, dry, ventilated space away from direct sunlight. Wear gloves and a mask when handling it, and wash any skin or eye contact with plenty of water.
Unopened bottles can be returned, though you'll cover the return shipping if it's a change of mind. Any defective bottle is covered by a free return and refund.
Yes. 3D Cast is Phrozen's official Australian distributor, so you're getting genuine BJD Resin with local warranty and support, not a grey import.
